Who we are

Hello, my name is Jeanette and I’m horrible at writing about myself, so please be kind to my rambling. I’m passionate about a lot of things. I have a very strong desire to leave this world a better place than I found it, for my children and the next generations to come.  As I have aged, I’ve learned that we are just the caretakers of tomorrow for our families.  My purpose in life has always been to take care of those around me.  As a child I grew up in a military family.  My father was and has always been my personal hero, and I have wanted to be like him for as long as I can remember.  He was an amazing man, and he inspired me to serve my country.  He believed the greatest thing we could do in life is serve others and protect those less fortunate than ourselves.

While serving in the United States Navy I learned a lot about myself, most notably that I’m wired wrong, and have a tendency to run toward danger rather than away from it.  I also learned that just maybe my purpose in life is to help stop human suffering as I’m able to and provide a margin of comfort and safety for those around me.  I believe that caring for anyone requires us to be wholly present, I have patched up wounds on battlefields and seen the mental scars that can linger far longer than the physical ones. I have lost friends that I served with to invisible scars.  My biggest hope in life is that I can help people with both their physical ailments and their emotional trials.

I have learned that being present, and honestly listening is one of the greatest gifts I can offer. I also have a Doctorate in Nursing from Gonzaga University, but at the end of the day It’s just a piece of paper. I have taken numerous classes on psychology and attended lectures about treating individuals with post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and addiction. I’m continually updating my knowledge base as new studies come out, I genuinely enjoy learning and growing.  In my tenure as a registered nurse, I have worked in the operating room, intensive care unit, post anesthesia recovery unit and in emergency medicine.  As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I have worked in Urgent Care and Family medicine.

I have been blessed with three beautiful, exhausting children.  My oldest daughter is a force to be reckoned with, she has a kind heart, and a fierce soul. She will stand toe to toe with anyone if she feels that she needs to be heard, or to protect those she cares for.  Watching her grow into the beautiful kind soul she has become has been one of the greatest joys of my life.   My middle child is the lover of the group, she has never met anyone that she doesn’t like.  She loves to tell me that we don’t make friends, we make family.  Her love of all things isn’t limited to people, we routinely must kick chickens and goats out of her bed.  She has taught me that some of the most beautiful moments in life are best experienced with an open heart. My youngest is a little boy that has more energy than anyone I have ever met.  At the old age of four he always offers me tips to “improve” my driving and offers me directions no matter where we are going.  He loves helping and is always willing to lend a hand if you don’t mind him telling you the best way to accomplish the task first.
